Global Medical Service as a Diagnostic Centre that carries out a number of clinical laboratory services to aid in making accurate diagnosis whiles maintaining international clinical laboratory standards. With experienced and skilful team of laboratory scientists, Global Medical Service performs the following investigations:
• FULL BLOOD COUNT
The purpose of this investigation is studying your blood for hidden signs of infection. Here, a blood sample is collected through a process called phlebotomy by an experienced scientist into an EDTA sample bottle. The blood sample is mixed well and run on a Hematology Automated Analyzer. This analyzer will study your blood and provide a report. In this report will be a list of all the blood components which will then be printed and interpreted by scientist to the understanding of the client.
In an event where further consultation is needed our consultants will come on board to provide the needed consultation, advice on treatment options and referral.
• HEPATITIS B TESTING
Global Medical Service as a Diagnostic Center performs both diagnostic and screening testing of hepatitis and other infectious disease-causing pathogens. Hepatitis B infection is a viral infection which affects the liver function if undetected and treated early. As a result of the public health impact hepatitis B has on the society, Global Medical Service organizes a free hepatitis B screening at least once every year to the general public. This is in performance of their core social responsibility. This is done on July 28 each year to mark World Hepatitis Day in line with the efforts of WHO and the World Alliance in eliminating Hepatitis B by 2030.
In a case of a positive hepatitis B outcome our team of consultants and scientists come together and see how best they can help our clients. Subsequent tests such as hepatitis B profile and liver function tests will be recommended to our clients to help our physicians ascertain how much damage the virus has caused and the best way to help our clients.
In a case of a negative hepatitis B outcome our clients are always advised to take the hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccine will help protect you from getting infected with the hepatitis B virus in the future. The hepatitis B vaccine remains the most effective means of prevention of hepatitis B infection.
• HEPATITIS B VACCINATION
The hepatitis B vaccine remains the most effective means of preventing hepatitis B infection. Globally, hepatitis B is a Public Health menace. It affects about 10% of the Ghanaian population and thus a public health challenge. All are encouraged to take the hepatitis B vaccine at Global Medical Service or any health facility.
